The Technology
Mission Backup Main System Mission Backup Main System is a dedicated network server with multiple CPU's. The Main System has Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) arrays and Mass Storage devices. The Main System has been designed for scalability. The Main System uses TCP/IP transport, much like that currently used by the World-Wide-Web. This allows it to support many thousands of simultaneous backups and restore sessions. To prevent data from being passed in the clear over the Internet, Mission Backup encrypts all network data transfers. Another special feature is built in data synchronization. This reduces both time and resources of the backup by only transmitting data that is new, or has changed. Stale data is never retransmitted. “Mission Backup uses the latest in authentication technologies."
The Main System will reside in Mission Backup's data center in Louisville, KY. This data center has a multiple redundant connections to the Internet. The client's network connectivity may have a variety of connections. The system can support a mix of:· ISDN ranging from 64Kbps or 128Kbps· Frame Relay ranging from 56Kbps to T-1 speeds (1.543Mbps)· DSL routers ranging from 144Kbps to T-1speeds (1.543Mbps)· Point-to-point connections ranging from fractional T-1's to full-rate T-1's and fractional to full-rate T-3's The client's backup speed is an independent function. Mission Backup storage solutions provide support for a large variety of connectivity speeds. The main variable that must be satisfied is that the client must have Internet connectivity. Encryption All data leaving the customer's premises via the Internet, and all data leaving Mission Backup's premises via the Internet are encrypted with one of 8 settings. The encryption options are:1. None2. DES (8.2 Compatible)3. DES (8.3 Standard)4. TDES (Triple DES)5. Blowfish (variable key)6. AES 1287. AES 1928. AES 256 In addition to providing encrypted transport, Mission Backup will be using the latest in authentication technologies. Restoration Users can restore entire backup sets or on a file-by-file basis. The graphical user interface of the Mission Backup Client lets you select individual files, or directories, for restore and is similar to Windows Explorer. If a catastrophe occurred, demanding complete software rebuild, the Mission Backup Client must be reinstalled. Once installed, the user can connect to the Mission Backup storage location and download the selected files. In addition, Mission Backup can place the data on a customer specified storage medium and physically send it to the customer's location. |
